Márquez Arrives at Misano Just 19 Points Behind
Marc Márquez heads into the 2026 San Marino Grand Prix with his MotoGP title defence firmly back on track, and Misano could become one of the most important weekends of his season.
After completing a dominant Sprint and Grand Prix double at Aragón, the Ducati Lenovo rider climbed to second in the standings and reduced his deficit to championship leader Jorge Martín to only 19 points. Marco Bezzecchi sits just five points further behind Márquez, leaving the top three separated by only 24 points.
With nine Grands Prix remaining after Aragón, the championship has suddenly become wide open.

Aragón Changed the Championship Picture
Márquez's Aragón performance could hardly have arrived at a better time.
The reigning champion controlled both races at MotorLand while Martín endured one of his least competitive weekends of the season, managing fifth place in both the Sprint and Grand Prix.
Márquez's victory was his 77th MotoGP win, but its championship impact was even more significant.
Earlier in the season, surgery and missed races had threatened to derail his title defence. By June, however, back-to-back victories had already pulled Márquez back into contention.
