MotoGP and Formula 1 Set for Historic Crossover in Austin

MotoGP has officially announced that four premier-class motorcycles will take to Circuit of The Americas (COTA) during the 2026 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix weekend, marking the first time MotoGP has staged an on-track showcase as part of an F1 Grand Prix event.

The historic demonstration will take place on Saturday, 24 October 2026, ahead of Formula 1's third free practice session.

Four experienced riders representing KTM, Ducati, Yamaha and Aprilia will perform high-speed demonstration laps around the Austin circuit, bringing the excitement of two-wheel racing directly to Formula 1 fans.

With more than 400,000 spectators expected across the Grand Prix weekend, the event offers MotoGP an opportunity to introduce its racing machines to a wider international audience.

Two wheels meet four wheels. One circuit. One historic motorsport weekend.

Four Riders Confirmed for MotoGP's COTA Showcase

The demonstration will feature four prominent names from motorcycle racing, combining former MotoGP race winners with World Superbike talent.

Dani Pedrosa will return to the spotlight aboard KTM machinery. The Spanish legend remains an important part of KTM's development programme.

Nicolò Bulega, the reigning WorldSBK Champion, will represent Ducati as he prepares to join the MotoGP grid full-time in 2027.

Former Ducati MotoGP star Andrea Dovizioso will demonstrate Yamaha machinery, while Lorenzo Savadori will ride an Aprilia featuring Trackhouse MotoGP branding.

Together, the four riders will showcase the performance and engineering of modern MotoGP motorcycles.

MotoGP Machines Capable of Exceeding 360 km/h

One of the main attractions will be the extraordinary performance of the motorcycles.

Modern MotoGP machines can reach speeds exceeding 225 mph (approximately 362 km/h), while riders can achieve lean angles greater than 60 degrees.

The motorcycles can also produce sound levels exceeding 130 decibels, creating a distinctive experience for spectators more familiar with Formula 1 machinery.

Unlike a competitive race, the COTA appearance will be a demonstration designed to showcase MotoGP's speed, sound and technical capabilities.

The event will provide an opportunity to appreciate the differences between elite motorcycle racing and Formula 1.

The 20-minute session will take place immediately before F1 Free Practice 3.

MotoGP will also operate a dedicated Fan Zone activation throughout the weekend, with the four motorcycles on display and opportunities for spectators to experience the championship more closely.

MotoGP Races in Australia While F1 Hosts Austin Showcase

Interestingly, the demonstration takes place during the same weekend as the 2026 Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island.

While the championship's regular riders compete in Australia, the four showcase participants will represent MotoGP in the United States.

This arrangement allows MotoGP to reach two major motorsport audiences on the same weekend without interrupting the championship calendar.

The event could also provide a model for future collaborations between Formula 1 and MotoGP, although further showcases have not yet been officially confirmed.

A New Opportunity to Connect Global Motorsport Fans

For Winbox Racing, the MotoGP and Formula 1 crossover demonstrates how different racing championships can collaborate to expand motorsport's global reach.

The showcase brings together legendary riders, leading motorcycle manufacturers and one of Formula 1's biggest race weekends.

It also highlights the growing importance of creating experiences that connect fans across different motorsport disciplines.

As both championships continue expanding internationally, initiatives like the COTA showcase could help introduce new audiences to motorcycle and car racing.

Four riders. Four manufacturers. Two world-class championships.

MotoGP meets Formula 1 — and history will be made at COTA.
