Motorcycles Will Not Be Allowed Into SIC

Motorcyclists will be prohibited from entering Sepang International Circuit during this weekend's Formula 1 event from October 2–4, as organisers introduce a new traffic management plan to reduce congestion.

SIC chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif confirmed the restriction is being implemented together with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). Only vehicles carrying valid parking stickers or passes will be permitted into the circuit's parking areas. BERNAMA

The restriction applies to members of the public arriving by motorcycle, making alternative transport arrangements important for fans heading to Sepang.

Riding to the circuit? This F1 weekend will be different.

Why Is Sepang Banning Motorcycles?

According to SIC, the decision forms part of a broader attempt to tackle the severe traffic congestion traditionally associated with major motorsport events at Sepang.

Shafriman said that allowing unrestricted vehicle access since the circuit opened in 1999 had contributed to heavy traffic entering and leaving the venue during major events. BERNAMA

Restricting private vehicles and preventing public motorcycle access is intended to reduce the number of vehicles reaching the circuit and make traffic management easier for police.

Authorities will operate eight checkpoints, with roadblocks and traffic diversions beginning Friday morning. Around 700 personnel are being deployed to manage traffic and patrol the surrounding area.

Free Shuttle Buses Available for F1 Fans

Fans without valid vehicle parking passes are being encouraged to use public transport, e-hailing or the free shuttle bus network instead.

A total of 115 Rapid KL shuttle buses will operate from four locations:

- KLIA Terminal 2

- KLIA Long-Term Car Park

- Mitsui Outlet Park

- Bandar Baru Enstek

SIC will also operate another 30 shuttle buses inside the circuit, running continuously between 7am and midnight.

Police have also warned spectators without event tickets or vehicle parking stickers not to attempt to drive into restricted areas, as they may be turned away at checkpoints.

Plan Ahead Before Heading to Sepang

For Winbox Racing, this is an important update for Malaysian fans preparing to attend Formula 1's first weekend at Sepang since 2017.

The October 2–4 event is officially the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, after the Bahrain round was relocated to Sepang. Motorsport

With significant crowds expected and new traffic controls in place, spectators should plan their journey before travelling to the circuit.

No public motorcycle entry. Vehicle passes required. Free shuttle services available.
