100,000 Fans Welcome Sergio Perez in Mexico City

Sergio Perez received a spectacular homecoming as approximately 100,000 fans gathered in Mexico City to watch the Cadillac Formula 1 driver perform a special street demonstration ahead of the 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix.

The event took place on Wednesday, 28 October, along the famous Paseo de la Reforma, where thousands of supporters waved Mexican flags and cheered for their national racing hero.

Perez entertained the crowd with high-speed acceleration runs and tyre-smoking doughnuts in a Cadillac-branded demonstration car.

The Mexican driver also took time to greet supporters and thank them for their continued loyalty throughout his Formula 1 career.

Perez Prepares for His 300th Formula 1 Start

The showrun comes during a milestone week for the 36-year-old, who is preparing to make his 300th Formula 1 Grand Prix start at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on 1 November.

Perez made his F1 debut in 2011 and has since achieved six Grand Prix victories and 39 podium finishes.

After spending 2025 away from Formula 1, he returned to the grid with Cadillac for the team's inaugural 2026 campaign.

His homecoming celebrations were made even more special by Cadillac's announcement that Perez has signed a contract extension keeping him with the team until at least 2029.

Cadillac Celebrates Its Mexican Connection

The demonstration also marked an important moment for Cadillac as the American manufacturer continues building its Formula 1 identity.

Despite a challenging debut season, the team has strengthened its connection with Mexican supporters through Perez's popularity.

The massive turnout demonstrated the driver's influence beyond the racetrack and highlighted Mexico's passion for motorsport.

With his future secured and a major career milestone approaching, Perez will now turn his attention to delivering a memorable performance in front of his home crowd.

100,000 fans. 300 Formula 1 starts. One unforgettable homecoming.

Sergio Perez's Mexico City celebrations have already made headlines before the racing even begins.
