Wang Yibo Brings Star Power to China GT's Malaysian Finale

Chinese superstar and professional racing driver Wang Yibo is preparing for a major motorsport appearance in Malaysia as the 2026 China GT Championship heads to Sepang International Circuit for its season finale on 6–8 November.

Best known internationally for his acting and music career, including his role in the popular Chinese drama The Untamed, Wang has been steadily establishing himself as a serious GT racing competitor.

The 29-year-old will represent UNO Racing Team, competing in the #85 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO alongside Malaysian racing driver Melwin Moh.

The upcoming Sepang event represents an important milestone in Wang's motorsport journey, marking his first overseas competition as a professional racing driver.

Wang Yibo Already Testing at Sepang International Circuit

Wang Yibo arrived in Malaysia ahead of the November finale and was spotted testing at Sepang International Circuit on 13 October.

He also shared photographs of his track preparations on Chinese social media, highlighting his experience adapting to Sepang's two long straights.

The early testing provides an opportunity to familiarise himself with the circuit's demanding combination of high-speed sections, technical corners and tropical conditions.

His arrival has attracted significant attention from Malaysian fans, with local media reporting sightings of the Chinese star around Kuala Lumpur.

However, Wang's main objective remains clear: preparing for a competitive performance in the China GT season finale.

From Entertainment Superstar to GT3 Racing Competitor

Wang Yibo's motorsport journey began with competitive motorcycle racing in 2019 before he transitioned into GT car racing in 2024.

He has since competed with UNO Racing Team, building experience in GT3 machinery and endurance events.

For the 2026 China GT season, Wang committed to a full-time campaign in the #85 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO.

His results have demonstrated progress throughout the year.

At the Zhuhai round in July, Wang and teammate Mao Junhao secured second place in the GT3 AM+ category, navigating difficult wet-weather conditions.

The result reinforced his development as a racing driver and added another podium to his growing motorsport record.

His participation also brings a wider audience to GT racing, introducing entertainment fans to the competitive world of international motorsport.
