Verstappen Dominates Singapore Grand Prix

Max Verstappen completed a remarkable weekend at the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix, winning both the Sprint and Sunday's main race as Red Bull continued its late-season resurgence.

The four-time World Champion delivered a commanding performance at Marina Bay on October 11, securing his 73rd career Formula 1 victory on his milestone 250th Grand Prix start.

Starting from pole position, Verstappen defended against Ferrari's Charles Leclerc at Turn 1 before gradually building a comfortable advantage.

Despite experiencing radio communication problems that forced Red Bull to communicate through pit boards, Verstappen remained in control.

He crossed the finish line 7.335 seconds ahead of Leclerc, with Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli completing the podium.

The victory was Verstappen's first-ever Singapore Grand Prix win and his second consecutive triumph following Sepang.

250th Grand Prix. First Singapore victory. A perfect weekend for Verstappen.

Wet Sprint Produces Chaos at Marina Bay

Saturday's Sprint delivered one of the weekend's most dramatic moments.

Verstappen started from Sprint pole, but George Russell briefly took the lead before crashing into the pit wall on the opening lap.

The Mercedes driver's retirement opened the door for Verstappen to claim the Sprint victory ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

McLaren also endured a difficult Sprint when teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collided, costing the team valuable points.

The incident added pressure to McLaren during a weekend when Red Bull was rapidly closing the gap in the Constructors' Championship.

Later on Saturday, Verstappen secured Grand Prix pole with a 1:31.373 lap, beating Leclerc by just 0.054 seconds.

The Dutchman had now won the Sprint and secured pole position for Sunday's race.

Antonelli Extends Championship Lead as Russell Struggles

While Verstappen dominated the weekend, Kimi Antonelli emerged as another major winner in the championship battle.

The Mercedes youngster finished third on Sunday, extending his advantage over teammate George Russell to 102 points.

Russell's weekend was especially difficult.

After his power-unit failure at Sepang, Mercedes introduced replacement components that triggered a grid penalty, dropping him from sixth in qualifying to 19th on Sunday's starting grid.

His Sprint crash added to the disappointment.

Despite recovering through the field, Russell could only finish ninth in the Grand Prix.

Antonelli now heads into the next round at Austin with his first mathematical opportunity to secure the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship.

Antonelli: 340 points. Russell: 238 points.

A 102-point championship lead with the season entering its final stages.

Hamilton's Strategy Error Costs Ferrari a Double Podium

Ferrari appeared capable of securing two podium finishes, with Leclerc and Hamilton running second and third during the race.

However, a Virtual Safety Car period changed the situation.

Hamilton missed the pit entry when Ferrari called him in, choosing to continue on ageing tyres.

As tyre degradation increased, Antonelli, Norris and Piastri passed the seven-time World Champion, dropping him to sixth.

Hamilton accepted responsibility for the mistake, while Leclerc secured Ferrari's second-place finish.

What's Next? United States Grand Prix

Formula 1 now heads to Austin, Texas, for the United States Grand Prix.

The next race could be decisive for the Drivers' Championship, with Antonelli holding a commanding 102-point advantage over Russell.

Verstappen, meanwhile, will aim to continue Red Bull's winning streak after consecutive victories in Malaysia and Singapore.

For Winbox Racing, the Singapore weekend delivered everything that makes Formula 1 exciting — wet-weather drama, teammate collisions, strategic mistakes and a dominant race winner.
