Faidzil Alang Goes Back-to-Back at Sepang
The 2026 MSF Merdeka 111-Lap Race delivered a major endurance test at PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, with 63 cars contesting the headline race on August 30.
Faidzil Alang, Muhamad Nurazmi and Ariff Hanafiah took overall victory in the #148 Papaya Autohaus Mercedes-AMG A45, giving Faidzil his second consecutive MSF Merdeka overall win.
The trio also won the Super Series Limited class after starting from pole and controlling much of the 111-lap contest.
111 laps. Around 615km. One huge night at Sepang.
Class Battles Deliver Crucial Results
Behind the overall winners, Syahrizal Jamaluddin and Muhammad Hasif finished second, while the Kegani Racing Academy Toyota Levin of Kenny Lee, Loke Yin Yi and Daniel Storkensen completed the overall podium despite losing 11 minutes to a clutch-system issue.
Kegani's recovery also secured victory in Super Compatto, while Daniel Harris Jaeggi/Lew Xuan Yan won the 86 x BRZ Racing Cup, Lim Jian Hong/Lim Zheng Chuen/Xie Boyu Jonathan topped Standard Production, and Khair Nur Adi/Khair Nur Adli/Mohamad Anaqi won Standard Production MAX.
Merdeka Carries Major Championship Weight
The endurance round matters far beyond a standalone Merdeka victory.
Under MSF's 2026 sporting regulations, the Merdeka Enduro awards 300 championship points for a class win, 255 for second and 225 for third, plus five points for the fastest lap.
That makes Sepang one of the season's biggest opportunities to gain—or lose—ground.
MSF's currently published championship pages are not yet consistently showing the Merdeka points across every SuperTurismo category, so a definitive post-Merdeka table should wait for the organiser's fully updated standings rather than calculating an unofficial classification. For example, the official Super Series Limited page still displays zero under its Enduro column.
Championship Pressure Builds After Merdeka
What is already clear is that the endurance round has created significant momentum for its class winners.
With 300 points available for victory, strong Merdeka results can dramatically alter championship positions as MSF Racing heads toward its remaining 2026 rounds
For Winbox Racing, the Sepang endurance round once again showed why the MSF Merdeka Race is one of Malaysia's most important grassroots motorsport events.
Endurance survived. Big points scored. Championship pressure rising.
Now the fight moves into the final part of the 2026 MSF season.
