Márquez Completes Incredible Championship Comeback
Marc Márquez has erased a 102-point deficit to take the lead of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship after winning the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano.
The Ducati rider left Mugello 102 points behind the championship leader. Just seven Grands Prix later, he sits at the top of the standings for the first time this season.

Perfect Misano Weekend Changes Everything
Márquez won Saturday's Sprint before delivering again in Sunday's Grand Prix, claiming his 78th MotoGP victory.
His path became clearer when Marco Bezzecchi crashed from the lead on the opening lap, while Jorge Martín eventually finished fifth. Márquez controlled the race ahead of Álex Márquez and Pedro Acosta.
Márquez and Martín Level on Points
The championship could hardly be closer.
Márquez and Martín are tied on 274 points, but Márquez takes the championship lead on countback thanks to his superior number of Grand Prix victories — five compared with Martín's one. Bezzecchi is now 33 points behind.
Márquez described taking the lead as feeling “unreal” after the injuries and setbacks that shaped the opening part of his season.
The Hunter Is Now the Hunted
For Winbox Racing, Márquez's comeback has completely transformed the 2026 MotoGP title fight.
A championship that once looked almost out of reach is now in his hands — but with Martín level on points, there is virtually no margin for error.
