Ferrari Goes All-In at Monza

Ferrari is bringing an upgraded Formula 1 power unit to the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, giving Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton more firepower for the Scuderia's biggest home race of the year.

The upgrade is Ferrari's second permitted development under Formula 1's ADUO system, which allows manufacturers falling behind the ICE performance benchmark additional development opportunities. Ferrari introduced its first ADUO update in Austria and is now deploying its latest specification at Monza.

And Monza is exactly where Ferrari needs it.

More Power for the Temple of Speed

Long straights. Heavy braking. Low downforce.

Monza rewards raw speed.

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur confirmed the upgraded power unit is another step forward as the team fights for marginal gains in an increasingly tight 2026 field.

The upgrade is reportedly worth around 15bhp, although Ferrari has not officially confirmed that figure. Motorsport.com reports that the improvement could significantly reduce Ferrari's estimated deficit to Mercedes.


SF-26 Gets Monza Aero Upgrade


Ferrari isn't stopping with the engine.

The SF-26 will also receive low-downforce rear-wing updates and track-specific aerodynamic changes designed specifically for Monza's extreme high-speed layout.

Engine power plus lower drag could give Leclerc and Hamilton a stronger weapon down Monza's straights.

Ferrari vs Mercedes

The timing matters.

Ferrari arrives at Monza 87 points behind Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship, making every performance gain valuable as the second half of the season develops.

The ADUO system exists specifically to help manufacturers close performance gaps. Ferrari's latest upgrade shows the Scuderia has no intention of backing off its 2026 development push.

Ferrari's home Grand Prix already carries enormous pressure.

Now add an upgraded engine, Monza-specific aero, Leclerc, Hamilton and thousands of tifosi.
