Alex Marquez Makes the Switch from Gresini Ducati
Alex Marquez will leave BK 8 Gresini Racing and Ducati machinery behind to begin a new chapter with KTM.
The Spaniard arrives with significant momentum. He finished runner-up in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship and has established himself as a multiple premier-class Grand Prix winner.
Marquez also has history with KTM.
Earlier in his career, he achieved his first Grand Prix podium and victory aboard a KTM RC4 in Moto3 in 2013. More than a decade later, he will return to the Austrian manufacturer—this time as a factory MotoGP rider.
His experience, race intelligence and recent form make him an important signing as KTM prepares for the championship's new generation of machinery.
Fabio Di Giannantonio Joins the Factory KTM Project
Alongside Marquez will be Fabio Di Giannantonio, who makes the move from Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.
Di Giannantonio has steadily developed into one of MotoGP's established front-running riders. KTM's announcement noted that he was sitting inside the top three of the 2026 championship standings at the time of his signing.
The Italian also added another MotoGP victory to his record at Barcelona in 2026, complementing his breakthrough Qatar victory from 2023.
His move represents a significant career step: from competing on Ducati machinery with satellite teams to becoming a full factory rider for KTM.

On paper, KTM's 2027 combination is an intriguing one.
#73 Alex Marquez brings World Championship runner-up credentials, extensive MotoGP experience and multiple victories.
#49 Fabio Di Giannantonio brings proven speed, recent winning form and a reputation that has continued to strengthen during his time on Ducati machinery.
Together, they will be responsible for leading KTM into an especially important period.
KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer highlighted Di Giannantonio's consistency as a front-running rider and praised the Italian's commitment and team mentality when confirming the deal.
The manufacturer has similarly identified Marquez's speed, maturity and technical knowledge as qualities that can contribute to developing its next-generation MotoGP project.
MotoGP's 850cc Revolution Begins in 2027
The timing of these signings is particularly significant because MotoGP undergoes a major technical reset in 2027.
For KTM, Marquez and Di Giannantonio will therefore not simply be joining an existing project.
