Lawson Gets Another Red Bull Shot
Liam Lawson will race for Red Bull again at the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, replacing Isack Hadjar as the Frenchman continues recovering from a wrist injury.
Red Bull confirmed Lawson will partner Max Verstappen at Monza, marking his second consecutive race with the senior team. Hadjar also missed the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort after sustaining the injury during the summer break.
P7 at Zandvoort Earns Lawson Momentum
Lawson made his Red Bull return count.
Thrown into the RB22 at short notice in Zandvoort, the New Zealander fought his way to a strong P7 finish, scoring valuable points despite having limited time to adapt to the car.
Now he gets another opportunity at one of Formula 1's fastest circuits.
Monza gives Lawson another chance to prove he belongs at the front.
Hadjar Recovery Continues
Hadjar had hoped to return for the Italian GP, but Red Bull has decided against rushing his comeback.
The team says his recovery is progressing positively but will continue monitoring his rehabilitation before clearing him to race again.
That leaves Lawson in the Red Bull alongside Verstappen for another weekend.
Tsunoda Returns to Racing Bulls
The driver shuffle also means Yuki Tsunoda will again replace Lawson at Racing Bulls, partnering rookie Arvid Lindblad.
Tsunoda returned to F1 competition at Zandvoort and finished P11. He now gets another race weekend at Monza while Lawson moves across to Red Bull.
Monza Is Lawson's Next Big Test
Zandvoort proved Lawson could jump into the RB22 and score.
Monza offers a different challenge.
High speeds, heavy braking and extremely low downforce will test how quickly Lawson can extract performance from the Red Bull package.
