Winbox Racing Takes on the MSF Merdeka 111 Endurance

Another major challenge awaits Winbox Racing.

On 29–30 August 2026, Winbox Racing will join STRATOS Motorsports for the MSF Merdeka 111 Endurance, taking on the demanding 111-lap race at Sepang International Circuit with a Toyota GT86 race car.

Coming at the end of August as Malaysia celebrates the Merdeka period, the event combines the spirit of Malaysian motorsport with one of the toughest challenges on the MSF calendar.

For Winbox Racing, the weekend represents another opportunity to expand its 2026 racing programme and test itself in an entirely different format: endurance racing.

At the centre of the programme is the STRATOS Motorsports Toyota GT86 race car, prepared to tackle 111 laps of Sepang's full circuit.

Unlike a short sprint race where outright speed can dominate the strategy, endurance racing demands a much broader approach.

Consistency matters.

Reliability matters.

Pit execution matters.

And, above all, the team must make it to the chequered flag.


111 Laps of Sepang International Circuit

The MSF Merdeka 111 Endurance is one of the standout events on the 2026 Malaysia Speed Festival calendar.

The number in its name tells the story: 111 laps.

Sepang International Circuit's full layout measures approximately 5.5 kilometres, meaning competitors face hundreds of kilometres of racing before reaching the finish.

That places enormous demands on the Toyota GT86.

Brakes, tyres, engine temperatures, fuel management and mechanical reliability all become critical factors as the laps accumulate.

Drivers also need to remain consistent while navigating traffic and changing track conditions.

One mistake can undo hours of work.

One perfectly executed strategy can transform a race.

That is what makes endurance racing different.

Racing During Malaysia's Merdeka Weekend

Taking place on 29–30 August 2026, the event also carries special significance because of its proximity to Malaysia's Independence Day celebrations.

The Merdeka Race has developed its own identity within the Malaysian motorsport calendar, bringing teams and drivers together for a long-distance challenge during one of the country's most meaningful weekends.
